Got a MX-500, seems great so far, only problem is I have a Phillips 51PW9363 HDTV, there is no code I can find to get it to work. When I try learned codes, it gives me the function then stops. Example. I will learn FREEZE from the original remote. When I press FREEZE on the MX-500 it freezes the screen, when I hit FREEZE on the MX-500 again, it does nothing. Same goes with AV inputs, menu, PIP. Any ideas?

Thanks

Try varying the amount of time you're pushing the button down on the remote you're learning from. For most functions (other than repeating buttons such as Volume and Channel Up/Down) you should only do a single push of the button on the remote you're learning from. If you've already tried that, then hold it down longer.

That being said, Philips products are well known for being difficult to learn due to their use of parity bit commands (simply put, the second push sends out a different command than the first). For more on that topic, see the description here: Parity Bits

Shadowramy,

Stop trying to use Learning for your Phillips TV, use the Database codes instead, they actually issue the parity bits and will operate your TV perfectly.

There are 11 different Philips Code Sets in the database listed as Phillips 1, Phillips 2 etc. Load each of them into a different device in a new configuration and test all of them with one download.

You'll find one of those code sets works.

Best Regards,

-Eric

Eric, he's using the MX-500, not the 700. It is somewhat surprising that none of the 9 codes for the MX-500 work though. From the MX-700 database, it looks like code 164 would be the most likely one to use with the MX-500.

That is correct I am trying the 164 code, work for volume and channels but nothing else, I think 184 also worked but in the same way.

I think it is the parity bit thing and I will have to add a dummy key to enter each time I select something like PnP and the AV codes.

Thanks
